1.   I am currently obsessed with       SparkPeople, The Eat Clean Diet Recharged, and Nike+.

2.  Today I am    sore    because,    I challenged myself to a lower body workout yesterday. I'm not as strong as I once was. lol  .

3.  The age I am is    30     and the age I feel is    37. ha! With everything I've been through the past several months I feel like I've aged quite a bit. But now that things are turning around and I'm finding peace and clarity, I'm starting to try and get back to feeling (and liking) 30   .

4.  My favorite place is     Disneyland! I could live there... seriously.

5.  Something I have been procrastinating is     spring cleaning. Every room in my house needs a good once-over .

6.  The last thing I purchased was       an eyebroy wax. lol. my first in over ten years  .

7.  The thing I love most about my home is       the hard work it took to get it. We work very hard to maintain a nice home for our kids to grow up and make memories in    .

how was your weekend?

yes, i really would like to know! what'd ya do? who'd ya see? anything new? anything exciting??

My weekend was (thankfully) low key. We were on call for work and that mean stick close to home.
The weather was gloomy and gray and perfect movie watching weather. However, no movies were actually watched.

Oh, but laundry got done.
I read SIX chapters in The Eat Clean Diet Recharged!
The kids and I got our workout on the Wii Fit.
Had a yummy din din and board game night with some friends.
And Sunday...

Oh Nascar, how I love thee.
The anticipation for this year's Great American Race was huge! New track and all.
For me, the anticipation was filled with excitement and heartache. This was the first Daytona without my Dad. And this is huge. My Dad loved Nascar, always watched it, even recorded it while we'd be at church to watch it when he got home. If I wasn't watching it with him, I was sure to call and talk about  the ending or anything cool that happened in the race. I think I'll miss that most.
Yes, I cried. Of course I cried.
At the beginning...
the entire lap 3...
and at the end...
Can you believe a Kid, Trevor Bayne was 20 years and 1 day old when he won the Daytona 500 for 2011! Incredible!

I'm sure Daddy was up there in heaven watching the race with Dale Sr! hehe

Overall, it was nice and relaxing and low key weekend. A two-thumbs-upper in my book! :-)

i think i'm finding myself again...

5407788160_90d7643ddc_z_large

It's been a long time since I've felt the tiniest bit like the Me before Daddy passed away. Lately there have been moments, small but not insignificant, that I can see life again, feel possibility, smile and laugh and actually mean it. Here are a few of those moments...

- I don't cry everyday but I still hurt, and I don't anticipate the pain going anywhere soon. And that is okay.

- I got back on the treadmill for the first time in a long time. Running one mile kicked my bootay pretty good, but I was filled with joy just to have accomplished it.

- I scrapbooked. Nothing I would say I'm exactly proud of other than the act of actually doing it... man I'm out of practice!

- I painted today. No I don't mean the walls. I painted on canvas. Nothing grand or glorious, just brush to canvas and let go.

- I made cupcakes this morning. Yes, I did. AND I didn't even taste them!

Like I said, in no means are these big life-changing events... but they are small acts that have reminded me that I am still here, even if covered in the dark thick veil of greif.

One step at a time... baby steps...
Thank you for your support.

Happy Valentines Day

Tumblr_lgm82fs4wa1qe5al2o1_500_large

Happy Valentines Day to you all!

good doings

I suppose its no secret to those who know me well, know that I do not like clutter or to keep things unused. I am a huuuge advocate of donating. Every six months or so, I go through the house and get rid of bags and bags of stuff that has accumulated. Many make jokes about my habit, but I see it an entirely different way.

If I'm not using something, enjoying something, or it doesn't have a sentimental value to me, it goes into the Goodwill pile. I always have a Goodwill pile. Sometimes I take one or two things from somewhere in the house. Sometimes I spend a whole day going through certain rooms and drawers.

My thought process is this... if I haven't used it in a year, worn it in six months, then I don't need it. I'd probably hardly miss it. And you know what, there are so many people out there who would appreciate it.

I am so incredibly fortunate, more fortunate that many, to have so many wonderful things. Clothes, craft supplies, decorations, home decor, kitchen stuff. I receive so many great things from friends and family for holidays and such (Christmas in our house is outta-control) and I am so entirely grateful. My kids, holy crow, get so much stuff from aunts and uncles and grandparents and great grandparents and friends and just about every body.
Before every birthday and holiday, I have our kids take a bag and go through their room, their bathroom, their playroom, and their cubbies and fill the bag with things to donate to Goodwill. I've done this every single year with them. I want my kids to realize how incredibly lucky they are. Some kids only get one gift for Christmas, or their birthday. I want them to be in the practice of giving, and giving up their own luxuries for others less fortunate. I want them to know that by giving, you receive so much more in your heart.

I recently went through my closet (one of my six month antics... if I haven't worn it, it goes). The results...
from this...

to this!

I went through the line once, then twice, and came up with a stack of clothes...
mind you, this is just the closet. I also donated 8 pairs of shoes, and went through my drawers. Three bags later! There were so many things that I wasn't wearing because it was out of style, didn't fit, didn't like anymore... several things still  had tags on them.... again, all these things I know someone else will enjoy and use them. Let them bring joy to someone else. Thats what makes my heart happy.

wee bit wednesday

{one} ice: crushed or cubed?
i prefer crushed, but usually get cubed.

{two} what is your worst traffic pet peeve?
don't know if this is traffic, but people smoking in their car, with the window barely cracked, and kids in the car. man, that gets under my skin!

{three} what room in your house best represents your personality?
i would say my loft / craft room... but right now it looks like its been turned upside down and turned into the junk drawer, collecting anything and everything. oh wait, i guess that pretty much explains my personality these past four months. lol.

{four} do you save old birthday cards?
i didnt, until my dad told me that he and my mom have kept every single card i've ever given them (i believe in their bedside tables). now i keep every card. and good thing too, because the last card my dad (and mom) gave to me was for my 30th birthday. Daddy wrote "I love being your dad and I am very proud of you. {heart} Dad". I remember looking at him and crying when I read that, and telling him that he made my day. He was over my left shoulder. I'm thankful for that memory. I have the card next to my bed.

{five} when was the last time you went on a picnic?
i know it's been a while. i think nearly two years ago. but funny enough, i've been thinking about having one soon. i love picnics. i love the time together. and the preparation of it.

{six} do you regularly check your horoscope?
i used to. now, not so much. it's really all the same.

{seven} when you’re home, what do you wear on your feet?
90% of the time I'm barefoot. when I'm cold, I'll wear my slippers.

{eight} what’s your favorite gambling game?
texas hold 'em, followed by video poker and roulette.

{nine} have you ever written (or started writing) a book?
embarrassing, but yes.

{ten} what is your favorite musical?
Carousel by Rogers and Hammerstein
